Here’s my TIFF coverage: Don’t pay $32 to see a movie unless the star/director is sitting next to you, giving you a live commentary. Other than that, here’s what’s new in theatres this week!
SULLY – Basically a TV movie with major actors, shot in IMAX for no discernible reason. I’d recommend it for the IMAX were the Scotiabank theatre downtown not commandeered by the film fest, and the Y&D IMAX doesn’t have the new laser projectors. So just hang tight until Monday the 19th and see if they book it, otherwise skip it.
THE LIGHT BETWEEN OCEANS – Had a meagre opening last weekend despite the stars involved, but if you’re looking for an ugly cry this is the one.
WHEN THE BOUGH BREAKS – It’s 6 PM Friday and there STILL aren’t enough reviews on Rotten Tomatoes to give it a rating, so even the critics aren’t checking it out. Should eventually be a classic camp fest, but until then, stay away.
