I mean, there’s just so damn many films in theatres right now. Films that need your monies. Go see good movies.
SWISS ARMY MAN – Completely insane, and quite possibly the best film of the year. This is the kind of film that needs to be seen on a big screen and with an audience, as a reminder of what the cinematic experience can really be like. Not that I’m overselling it or anything.
THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS – Illumination’s style is basically Nu-Warner-Brothers, a beautiful 3D Chuck Jones/ Friz Freleng animated festival. The smart move here was casting comedians for all the parts, which puts humour in the hands of the professionals, and it shows. I’m sure it’s a lot funnier than FINDING DORY, I tell you whut.
MIKE AND DAVE NEED WEDDING DATES – Sure, it’s getting mixed reviews, but with all the chaos this week we all need a good laugh, and this is a lot dirtier option than PETS. I still don’t know if I can deal with a filthy Anna Kendrick, but it should deliver the goods.
