New Movies for December 9, 2016/ by /

9 Dec

Four new releases this week!

JACKIE – Fantastic look at mourning in the public eye after the most famous assassination in history. Natalie Portman’s getting loads of awards buzz for a possibly career-defining performance.

LION – Dev Patel once again plays the brilliant poor-boy-made-good. I’m a jaded bastard but this is said to be one of the year’s best films, a heartbreaking tale of loss and guilt, made possible by Google Maps.

MISS SLOANE – A successful Washington lobbyist takes on her biggest target, the gun control lobby. Jessica Chastain is one of Hollywood’s best actors, and she carries this one pretty much on her own, despite the presence of Sam Waterston and John Lithgow. Sadly it’s not ringing many bells for the critics, so it’s not exactly must-see-right-now cinema.

OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY – Despite a stunning array of comedic talent, this one’s not packing much in its stocking, which is a real shame. Still, you could do worse.
