Let’s not beat around the bush: you’re gonna see ROGUE ONE, and you definitely shouldn’t see COLLATERAL BEAUTY. But here’s a little more for each.
ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY – Of course it’s great. There are some of the best sequences of the entire franchise in this one, some amazing characters, a solid story, but just too damn many “nods” to A NEW HOPE. Like, waaaaay too many. We’ll be getting into the details on the spoilercast this week, but know that you’re in for a treat regardless.
COLLATERAL BEAUTY – Wow, this movie. A spectacular cast didn’t read the script they were working with. Evidently it goes on a very odd journey in terms of tone. Basically, a mourning father’s grief threatens to ruin his advertising company, so his co-workers hire actors to pretend to be Death, Love, and Time, in an attempt to either get him through it or get him fired. There are some great reviews out there, it’s worth reading about but definitely not worth paying money for.
